Making America Great Again was the Goal

How was it supposed to happen?
How does it make America great by supporting divisiveness and hate?
I’m confused by seeing people who claim to be moral supporting a leader who lied to all of us, defrauded the government, failed to fulfill his promises, has committed treason publicly and will be tried for more treason soon. Trump has been convicted of sexual assault (finally) although he escaped the rape conviction. He has committed countless immoral acts according to the supposed standards of his moral supporters. In what situation can people suspend moral judgement without being hypocrites?
I’m incredulous that he leads in the polls. There are still people who follow Hitler, people who believe the world is flat, and some who believe there is an Easter Bunny who lays chicken eggs, so I shouldn’t be surprised.
Fortunately, Trump’s attempted coup on January 6th failed – this time.
Had it succeeded, what would the country look like now?
I’m further confused by how these proud Americans can stomach standing side-by-side with divisive hate groups including Neo-Nazis, Proud Boys, Q-Anon Conspiracy believers, White Supremacists, and Antisemitic organizations.
On whatever side these hate-groups are on, you will find me standing on the opposite side.
I would think most Republicans would get a clue. They haven’t.
When Republicans stood for ethics, compassion, fiscal responsibility, and common sense, I was a Republican. I thought that was the platform. Maybe it never was. When Trump hijacked the Republican Party, I could no longer be a Republican.
I understand there is a vast difference in intelligence and education among the voters of our country. I understand that ignorance and bigotry are handed down from generation to generation and in pockets of provincial societies. In those pockets, you survive by joining or you leave. It’s just like those raised in gang environments but it’s often more subtle. Your neighbors all think alike, and you soon think like them, or you soon become an outcast.
I blame in part, the dumbing down of our society through the lowering of standards in our education system. Our free society cannot survive long without an educated population, and we are at risk.
I’m angered that there were so few profiles in courage among Republican leaders when having the chance to do the right thing twice, was so incredibly obvious. Each of them who caved to party pressure must share the blame for the insurrection because they chose to bow to the Republican Party over supporting the constitution and doing the business of citizens.
I refuse to support a party of cowards who fail to execute the rule of law.
We can make America greater.
Not by division or inventing scapegoats for our problems as Hitler did against the Jews.
Not by pandering to bigots and psycho fringe groups.
Not by scaring white people into believing there are hordes of criminals and rapists overrunning our borders.
Not by ridiculous promises like building a wall that Mexico would pay for.
Not by convincing some media it would be profitable to continually promote lies to convince so many that the lies were truth, and the truth were lies. The voters told Trump, “You’re fired” but he refused to go with honor.
I would think we could make America great by accepting and respecting each other. I think it would be done by pulling together for our mutual survival and economic benefit. I believe it can be done by helping; not hurting each other.
How much more productive could we become if we stopped attacking each other and instead cooperated to build our nation on the principles of freedom and justice for all? “All” in this context includes every human being not just the privileged few.
If we can ever get this right, we might finally earn the right to be the beacon our nation was created to be. Then and only then, should we be allowed to lead the world as an example for all nations so that one day, all nations will learn to pull together for the benefit of Earth, its people, its environment, and its survival.
On that day, when all nations begin to help each other, we will have evolved as a species worthy of survival.
First, we all must learn to do the right thing. We surely have a long way to go.

Great thought out post. If you look at the recent elections in France and England, the people were not happy with their choices either. Maybe being the leader of a country is too hard these days. Out of all the people in America, the only choice is two people past their prime. Maybe social media has made the job unappealing. Who needs the aggravation? The world is in trouble when no one will lead, but here we are.
